Dow Dinosaurs: Can Old Blue-Chips Make You Money?

When Charles Dow began the stock average that bears his name back in 1896, it was purely an industrial average. Gas. Coal. Iron. Rubber. You name it.

Over the 114 years since then the economy has changed, becoming both global and technologically advanced. The current incarnation of the Dow Jones Industrial Average really isn’t that industrial.
